Central South, Volkswagen Enthusiasts Club. Peel Forest 'Weekender' This is a lovely spot for some rest and recreation. Listen to the birds whistling and enjoy the many bush walks. Come for a day, the weekend, or longer if you so wish. There are plenty of camp sites available and four cabins, at the Peel Forest motor camp. The Peel Forest store operate the camp. This year we are going to do something a little different. For those who wish to, we are going to make the trip to Mesopotamia Station on Saturday afternoon, returning for a BBQ and refreshments, later in the day. It is many years since I have been to Mesopotamia, so the afternoon will be interesting for me to. The Peel Forest store staff, told me that from the Peel Forest village, to the end of the road, is 45ks. It can take from 45 minutes, to an hour to get there, but it is slightly quicker coming back. No fuel is available at Peel Forest, so you will need to be well fueled for the weekend. Most of the road will be gravel, with the resulting dirty vehicles, but the end result will be a trip to an amazing part of the country. Somewhere you would not normally get. I will get my BBQ there, so all you will need to do, is supply your own eats, plates etc. I will bring our bigger BBQ this year, so you will be able to cook more and eat more.
